Sing Out Loud!

May 9, 2008 by Godfather

Friday at The Slow Bleed is the day we add a post that is inspirational in nature (the last post of the day) - just to kick off your weekend with a positive note (no pun intended given this weeks choice).

This week, a classic but still one of my favorites. Paul Potts from Britain’s Got Talent.

Not bad for someone that worked in a store selling mobile phones!

I recently posted that video as well. It is a great example of having your head kicked after you have set your expectations so low (the judges). Paul is awesome!!

Pure poetry, made even more poignant by the words to the aria. At 1:43 he sings:

    Dilegua, o notte!

    Tramontate, stelle!

    Tramontate, stelle!

    All’alba vincero!

    Vincero, vincero!

    (Vanish, o night!

    Fade, stars!

    At dawn I shall win!)

    Indeed he did!

Wow, Mespo, you’ve been on your toes ever since the Bella / Bello debacle.

This is another great place to visit. Keep up the good the work Godfather !!

    binx101:

You motivated me into getting in touch with my roots. I listened to Turandot (one of my favorite Puccini’s) and looked up the lyrics. Thought it might be appropriate here. I also screened Mario Lanza’s “Serenade” where this aria figures prominently. Potts is fantastic, but Mario still takes the prize. Must be my Italian showing.

    Bel Canto, indeed.

Well Binx, after posting that I had to fire up O Fortuna. Ok, ok, lame I know as it has been commercialized to no end - but I still love it!
